Shun was the greatest of all sages.
Vast is Heaven.
Yet he could imitate it.

With the most profound reverence,
He sat on his throne facing south.
There was nothing more he had to do.

The man of perfect compassion
Begins by loving those closest to him
And ends by extending this heart
To the farthest limits of the world.

But the man who makes war
Begins by hating those who are far off
And ends by working destruction
On those who are closest to him.

The heart which cannot bear the pain of others
Is the seed of perfect compassion.
All, all have this original heart.
Grow it and become Shun. That is all.
