Spring, the River Thames

Spring, the River Thames

Is stretching its legs.
The river flows choppily
And clouds scatter
The bright sky.

Branches clamour for light.
In the breeze,
Buds wait, breathless,
Ready to burst.

Now ecstatic with song,
Thrill hedges and tree tops,
Flying fast chases
Through shadows that dance.

Day climbs
And warmth builds.
Life stirs from its sleep,
Growth breathing a sigh
Before starting anew.
