Mayan cities we visit now and then

Mayan cities we visit now and then

Let the mind rest lightly
On these praising stones
Untroubled by the earth of blood and

The sun shines still,
Blue bubbles rise in cisterns
And they always will,
The moon casts her silver shadow
Like a fisher’s net
To capture Mars and Venus
When the sun has set.

Let my mind
rest lightly on your face,
What can it matter where our fingers trace,
Or do not trace?
Or what we say, or what we’re thinking of?
When all these things we love are gone,
There’ll still be love,
