Crowds, Cubicles and Coffee Breaks

Crowds, Cubicles and Coffee Breaks
These crowds on city streets
We wrap up in our breath
To employ as a pacifier
Against our loneliness.
We rush and shuffle off
Into lifeless halls and cubicles
As the lull of our daily routines
Makes us dull and drowsy.
While imperceptibly our heart
Alters it’s beat
To the rhythms of coffee breaks
And T.V. timeouts.
Absently we scratch the itch
Of our deepest longings
And slip into a colorful slumber
Of magazine dreams.
