Awakening

Awakening

O February,
no full moon to light your nights this year,
and little of snow’s white light to brighten your days,
but Guru and his music weave magic,
spilling golden light into every heart,
making each of your short days shine
in the radiance of his unhorizoned love.

In the days that end with winter’s muted sunsets,
painted from a palette of soft pastels,
playing a soft music,
quiet, no lion’s roar,
a Love is there underneath all,
waiting to emerge, luminous and warm,
sending sap flowing through the trees,
      unfreezing life and limbs,
      pulling out the stops,
awakening our hearts
from the winter dark.
