We Played With God
We Played With God
Tomorrow, perhaps
I will peek
Out of the hood of
My sleeping bag
Sipping cherry
Kool-aid
And smile at the way
We played with God
On the mountain
– Anugata Bach.

I am very fond of this poem. Knowing Anugata and the fact that he climbs mountains helps I guess, but with these few words, Anugata captures the relationship between himself, his spirituality, God, mountain climbing and the mountains themselves. For me it is a very expansive poem and brings me a great deal of joy! I don’t actually climb mountains but because people like Anugata, Jowan and Kamalika write about their experiences and take great photos, we get a chance to go there too.
